Here is the honest answer up front: Akron-Canton Airport publishes no smoking policy and no designated smoking area information on its official site. A third-party travel site lists “Smoking Areas” among CAK facilities, but no official source confirms that. So this page stays short on purpose: what we know for sure, what state law says, and who to ask before you light up.

The Indoor Terminal Is Smoke-Free
Ohio’s SmokeFree Workplace Act prohibits smoking in indoor public places, so the indoor terminal is smoke-free regardless of the airport’s unpublished policy. Plan on no indoor smoking anywhere: at the ticket counters, in the concourse, at the gates, or in restrooms.
Any Designated Outdoor Area Is Unconfirmed
Some airports designate outdoor smoking areas near the terminal, but CAK has not published one. If you want a definitive answer, ask airport staff or the Visitor Information Center, which is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 1.888.434.2359. Do not rely on the third-party listing without confirming it with the airport.

Important: Leaving Post-Security Means Re-Clearing TSA
If you are already past security and step outside the terminal, you will have to re-clear the TSA checkpoint to get back to the gates. Factor that into your timing before a departure; our CAK TSA security guide has wait-time tips, and our CAK departures guide walks through what to expect before your flight.
