Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) is one terminal with two levels and nine gates (G1 through G9), which means the terminal map is easy to hold in your head. The walkthrough below follows the traveler flow in order: curb, ticketing, security, concourse, gates. Learn the door split (Doors 1, 2, and 3 for departures; Doors 4, 5, and 6 for arrivals) and you already know most of what matters.
The Big Picture: One Terminal, Two Levels
The ground level holds ticketing and check-in plus baggage claim; TSA passenger security screening sits between the check-in hall and the gates. Gates G1 and G2 are just past the checkpoint, and Gates G3 through G9 are on the upper concourse, reached by escalator, stairs, or elevator. There are no trains, trams, or satellite terminals. The official terminal map was revised in October 2026, and the layout described here follows that current map.

Ground Level: Curb, Ticketing, Baggage Claim
Curbside, Doors 1, 2, and 3 are the departures side and Doors 4, 5, and 6 are the arrivals side. The curb runs on express and commercial lanes with shuttle pickup, taxi pickup, rideshare pickup, and a bus stop. Inside on the ground level, the ticketing and check-in counters line the departures side: American (2 counters), United (2), Allegiant (4), and Breeze (3), plus a charter counter. Baggage claim sits on the same ground level near the ticketing area on the arrivals side; arriving passengers exit through Doors 4 through 6. Our CAK arrivals and pickup guide covers meeting points and curb rules, and our CAK airlines and gate guide has the airline detail.
Through Security to the Gates
The single TSA checkpoint connects the ticketing hall to the gate areas. Just past screening are Gates G1 and G2; take the escalator, stairs, or elevator up to the concourse for Gates G3 through G9. Gate assignments: American uses G1 and G2, United uses G3 and G4, Allegiant uses G5, and Breeze uses G6 through G9. Post-security dining includes Cafe Express near Gate 2, Great Lakes Brewing Co. across from Gate 3, the Observation Deck restaurant between Gates 5 and 6, and Shops on Deck near Gate 7; our CAK food and restaurants guide organizes them by pre-security and post-security. For departure timing, see our CAK departures guide.
Amenities Along the Way
The official map shows a practical amenity set for a small airport: a Mother’s Room, a Pet Relief Area (indoor and outdoor), a Sensory Room, the Step2 PlayPort for kids, the Ohio Desk Business Center, conference rooms, and a Visitor Information Center. Elevators and escalators connect the two levels, and restrooms, vending, and aid stations are marked throughout.
