Getting from your parking spot to your gate at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) is a three-stage trip: lot to terminal, terminal to the right checkpoint, checkpoint to your concourse. The route depends on where you parked — the garage is attached to the terminal, the surface lots are a walkway away, and the Brown Lot needs a shuttle. Here is the full walkthrough for each option.

From the Smart Parking Garage

The covered Smart Parking Garage is the closest option: take the skywalk on level 3 or the ground-floor walkway on level 1 straight into the terminal. Once inside, you’re on the upper (ticketing) level — check in, then head to the checkpoint that matches your concourse: North for A, Central for B, South for C. Garage to checkpoint is a matter of minutes, which is why the garage is the best pick for tight schedules.

From the Red, Blue, and Orange Lots

  • Red and Blue lots – surface lots north of the terminal. Follow the pedestrian walkway to the terminal’s north side, enter, and take the escalators or elevators up to the ticketing level. From the north entrance, the North checkpoint (Concourse A) is the shortest path; Central and South are a walk down the terminal.
  • Orange Lot – behind the Smart Parking Garage. Cross the elevated walkway (via the garage) into the terminal at the upper level.

From the Brown Lot (Shuttle)

The Brown Lot at 4960 Rocky River Drive is the cheapest official lot, but add shuttle time: the courtesy shuttle runs to the terminal’s ground transportation area roughly every 15 minutes. Ride it to the terminal, then take the escalators or elevators up to the ticketing level. Budget an extra 20–30 minutes door-to-checkpoint versus the garage — worth it for the savings on a long trip.

Arriving by RTA, Taxi, or Rideshare

The RTA Red Line station is on the lower level of the terminal — ride up to ticketing. Metered taxis queue outside the south end of the terminal; Uber and Lyft pick up on the curbsides. If you’re dropped off, ask for the end of the terminal nearest your concourse: north end for A (Frontier), center for B (Delta, Southwest), south end for C (United, American, JetBlue, and partners). Full ground options are in our CLE transportation guide.

Ticketing to Your Gate: Pick the Right Checkpoint

Once you’re on the ticketing level, match your checkpoint to your concourse to avoid doubling back: North → Concourse A (as-needed hours, opens ~4:15 AM), Central → Concourse B (typically 4:00 AM–10:00 PM; the PreCheck checkpoint), South → Concourse C (typically 3:30 AM–7:15 PM; use Central for evening C flights). After security, all three concourses connect airside — no re-screening needed to reach your gate. Confirm your airline’s concourse in our CLE airlines and gate guide and check current hours on our CLE TSA wait times page.

How Much Time to Budget

  • Garage or drop-off: terminal to gate is typically 20–30 minutes including check-in and security in normal conditions.
  • Red/Blue/Orange lots: add 5–10 minutes of walkway time.
  • Brown Lot: add 20–30 minutes for the shuttle.
  • Peak mornings (5:00–8:00 AM): add 30 minutes — security is busiest and lots fill.
  • Connecting from a late inbound? Know your outbound concourse before you land: A is north (Frontier), B is central (Delta, Southwest), C is south (United, American, and partners) — you’ll walk straight off the plane toward the right end of the terminal.
  • Coming back: save your parking spot with a photo when you arrive — after a long trip, level and row are the first things you forget.

Make Your CLE Journey Easier with AirportGo

AirportGo is built for the whole airport journey — before, during, and after your flight. Before you fly, use the packing checklist and trip tasks to get organized. During your trip, search the directory for gates, food, restrooms, and ATMs, get step-by-step walking navigation through the terminal, check TSA checkpoint times, and set a parking reminder so your spot is saved. After you land, the find-my-car feature uses your saved parking photo and location to walk you back to your vehicle. It even works offline, so a weak airport signal won’t slow you down. The app is available now on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
