Flying with a pet through Indianapolis International Airport is straightforward, as long as you know where the relief areas are. IND provides pet relief rooms on both concourses past security, plus outdoor relief areas before the checkpoint, so service animals, traveling pets, and law-enforcement dogs all have somewhere appropriate to go.
If you are locating the indianapolis airport pet relief area before you travel, here are the exact spots and how to use them.

Indoor Pet Relief Areas at IND
There are two indoor pet relief rooms past security, one per concourse. On Concourse A, the room is across from Harry & Izzy’s near the International Arrivals area. On Concourse B, it is across from Gate B5 near Tinker Coffee. Both rooms are equipped with artificial grass, miniature fire hydrants, and a pop-up sprinkler system that washes liquid waste into a drain. If you need help finding or accessing either room, contact Guest Services at 317-487-7243.
Outdoor Relief Areas Before Security
Before the security checkpoint, outdoor animal relief areas are available in the grassy areas outside the lower level of the terminal. These are the best option before you check in: let your dog use the outdoor area, then head inside for ticketing and security. Since the indoor rooms are only accessible past the checkpoint, arriving early enough for an outdoor stop makes the trip far less stressful for your pet.

Tips for Flying with Pets at IND
Pets must stay on a leash or in a carrier while inside the terminal. Check your airline’s pet policy and fees well before travel — cabin, checked, and cargo rules vary by carrier, and many limit the number of in-cabin pets per flight, so book early. At the TSA checkpoint, you will carry or walk your pet through the metal detector while the carrier goes through the X-ray; you never need to remove collars or leashes. Bring waste bags, a water bottle, and any paperwork your airline requires, and feed your pet well before the trip so the relief areas are the only stop you need.
Service Animals
Service animals use the same relief areas, and DOT rules require airlines to accept trained service dogs with the appropriate forms. If you are traveling with a service animal on a tight connection, the Concourse A room near International Arrivals and the Concourse B room near Gate B5 are both post-security, so you can reach one without leaving the secure area. For anything else — airline forms, TSA screening questions — confirm directly with your airline and the TSA before you fly.
Make Your IND Journey Easier with AirportGo
AirportGo is built for the whole airport journey, not just the gate. Before your flight, use the packing checklist and trip tasks — including reminders for pet paperwork, carriers, and airline pet reservations. During your trip, search the airport directory for gates, pet relief areas, restrooms, and ATMs, follow step-by-step walking navigation to your gate, and keep an eye on TSA checkpoint times. After you land, the find-my-car feature uses your saved parking photo and location to walk you right back to your vehicle. It even works offline, so a spotty connection won’t slow you down. The app is available now on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
