Rideshare pickup at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) moved with the new terminal, and the old instructions are wrong. Uber and Lyft now pick up on the Ground level (Level 1), directly across the road from Door 7. If a website tells you to go to baggage claim Door 4, or to the old extended parking pickup, it is describing the pre-November 2025 airport. This guide gives the current walk, step by step.

The Pickup Walk, Step by Step

After you land, collect your bags on the Arrivals level, then go down one level to the Ground level. Exit through Door 7 and cross the road to the pickup area on the island across the commercial curb; follow the “Ride App Pick Up” signs. Ground Transportation Coordinators are stationed on the commercial curb if you need directions. Request your ride when you are close to the door so you and your driver arrive at the pickup zone together, since this is an active curb, not a waiting area.

Drop-Offs Are Different

When you are leaving PIT rather than arriving, your driver drops you at the Departures curb on the top level of the new terminal, like any departing passenger. From there it is a short walk to check-in and the single TSA checkpoint. Build in your security time using our PIT departures guide.

Rideshare vs. the Alternatives

Door numbers at PIT’s Ground level are worth memorizing: Door 7 for rideshare and ACCESS paratransit, Door 9 for the 28X Airport Flyer bus and regional buses, and one level up, Door 5 on Arrivals for the parking shuttles. Taxis work from the Ground Commercial Curbside with operators including zTrip (412-777-7777), and the airport publishes no flat taxi fare, so a rideshare quote is easier to compare before you commit. The bus is the budget winner at $2.75 to downtown and Oakland. Our PIT ground transportation guide compares every option, and our PIT arrivals guide covers the private-car pickup on the Arrivals curb.

Meeting Your Driver

The pickup area is a shared island across the commercial curb, so do the identification basics well: confirm the driver’s name, car, and plate in the app before you get in, and be standing where the app expects you, since drivers cannot wait at this curb. If you cannot find the zone, ask a Ground Transportation Coordinator on the commercial curb; they are there for exactly this. Downtown Pittsburgh is about 17 to 19 road miles away, roughly 25 to 35 minutes by car without traffic, which is the trip most PIT rideshares make; Oakland, home to the universities and hospitals, is a few minutes beyond downtown on the same I-376 corridor, and the 28X bus serves both if the surge price makes you wince.

Late-Night and Early-Morning Notes

Rideshare supply follows flight banks, so late-night arrivals can mean longer waits and higher prices; consider pre-scheduling your ride in the app for very late or very early trips, or check the taxi curb on the same level. Remember the terminal’s rhythm: the security checkpoint closes from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., which shapes when the big arrival banks land.

Plan Your Trip with AirportGo

AirportGo is built for the whole airport journey, before, during, and after your flight. AirportGo does not offer an indoor map of Pittsburgh International yet, so at PIT the app is your trip prep companion: keep your flight, ride, and pickup details in one place, and save where you parked with the parking reminder when you drive yourself. At airports where AirportGo maps already exist, the same app also guides you indoors from the door to your gate.
