Almost every ground option at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) now works from one place: the Ground level, the bottom level of the new terminal that opened in November 2025. Taxis, the 28X Airport Flyer bus, hotel shuttles, limos, and long-distance buses all use the Ground Commercial Curbside or the doors just off it, while rideshare has its own spot across from Door 7. This guide sorts out every option, with the door numbers that matter.
The 28X Airport Flyer Bus
The best value ride at PIT is Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s 28X Airport Flyer: PIT to Robinson Towne Center, Downtown Pittsburgh, and Oakland, continuing through Shadyside toward Point Breeze and East Liberty, seven days a week. It boards outside Door 9 on the Ground level. The fare is $2.75 one way, and it is good for 3 hours of unlimited transfers; a Day Pass is $7. On the bus itself, pay cash with exact change (no cards on board) or use a ConnectCard; a ticket vending machine is on the Ground level by the doors, and mobile tickets are available through the Transit app and Ready2Ride. Buses run roughly every 30 to 40 minutes from about 5 a.m. to midnight, and the ride to downtown takes about 45 to 50 minutes depending on traffic. All 28X buses are wheelchair accessible, though drivers cannot help with luggage. PRT customer service is 412-442-2000.

Taxis
Taxis work from the Ground Commercial Curbside, the terminal’s bottom level. PIT’s permitted taxi operators include zTrip (412-777-7777), Pittsburgh Taxi (412-887-5080), Classy Cab, Byers Taxi, and Green’s Taxi, among others. PIT does not publish a flat fare to downtown; you arrange price with the operator, and trip cost depends on traffic on I-376. For ground transportation questions, the airport’s number is 412-472-3855.

Rideshare, Hotel Shuttles, and Limos
Uber and Lyft pick up across the road from Door 7 on the Ground level; drop-offs use the Departures curb. Our PIT Uber and Lyft pickup guide covers that walk step by step. Hotel shuttles also use the Ground Commercial Curbside: the airport’s permitted hotel courtesy operators include the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott, Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport, Hilton Garden Inn, DoubleTree, Homewood Suites, and Courtyard, plus the on-airport Hyatt’s free 24/7 shuttle. Call your hotel for pickup, and see our hotels near PIT guide. Limos, black car, and charter services must be Authority-permitted and pre-arranged; operators such as Regency Transportation (412-321-6800) and Star Limousine (724-776-0044) quote prices individually.
Long-Distance Buses, Parking Shuttles, and Paratransit
Regional buses also board at Door 9 on the Ground level: Fullington runs daily to the Pittsburgh Greyhound station, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Penn State; Mountain Line Grey Line runs to West Virginia; and Cardinal/GoBus runs toward Ohio and Wheeling. If you drove yourself, the Shuttle Lot’s free shuttles use a different door: Door 5 on the Arrivals level; see our PIT parking guide. ACCESS paratransit, the advance-reservation shared ride, picks up outside Door 7 on the Ground level, runs about 6 a.m. to midnight every day, charges $3.15 to $5.25 by distance, and is booked through 412-562-5353; see our PIT accessibility guide.
Plan Your Trip with AirportGo
AirportGo is built for the whole airport journey, before, during, and after your flight. AirportGo does not offer an indoor map of Pittsburgh International yet, so at PIT the app is your trip prep companion: keep your ride plan, flight details, and trip tasks in one place so the trip to and from the airport is the calmest part of the day. At airports where AirportGo maps already exist, the same app also guides you indoors from the door to your gate.
