Picking someone up at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) works differently than it did before November 2025. Arriving passengers now come into a brand new terminal: domestic flights exit through automated exit lanes to the Arrivals level (the middle level of the new building), where eight baggage claim areas and a meet-and-greet space called the Welcome Point wait on the other side. This guide walks through the full arrivals flow, where to meet, and how curb pickup works now.

The Arrivals Flow at PIT

Domestic arriving passengers leave the secure airside area through automated exit lanes and step straight into the Arrivals level of the new terminal. Baggage claim runs along this level with eight claim areas organized by airline, and the airport says its shorter new baggage system delivers bags about twice as fast as the old one did. The Welcome Point, a dedicated meet-and-greet space on the Arrivals level, is the natural place for greeters to wait. If your traveler checked a bag, our PIT baggage claim guide explains the claim areas and what to do if a bag goes missing.

International arrivals follow a different path: passengers on flights without preclearance claim their bags inside customs on the lower level of Concourse C, then exit through a sterile corridor that leads directly to the new terminal’s Arrivals level. Travelers arriving from preclearance airports such as Toronto or Dublin skip that process entirely. See our PIT international flights and customs guide for the step-by-step.

Where to Meet People Inside the Terminal

The Welcome Point on the Arrivals level is the meeting spot to agree on. It sits with the baggage claim areas, so your traveler will pass it on the way out. A nice bonus on this level: the Franco Harris “Immaculate Reception” statue stands on the Arrivals level, which makes for an unmistakable landmark and a fun photo while you wait. The UPMC Terrace, a 36,000 square foot outdoor terrace open to everyone with or without a boarding pass, is also reached from the Arrivals level near the Welcome Point, with a second entrance between baggage carousels 5 and 8.

Meeting someone who needs a hand with bags or directions? Information desks and purple-vest Ambassadors are stationed to help, and the main Information Desk is one level down on the Ground level near Door 8. General airport information is available at (412) 472-3525.

Curb Pickup: How It Works Now

Private cars pick up on the Arrivals curb outside the Arrivals level. The curb is for active loading only, so time your drive to your traveler’s call rather than circling early. Drivers who arrive ahead of the flight should wait in the Free Wait Lot (PIT’s cell phone lot), where the first hour is free: wait for the call, then drive to the curb. Our PIT cell phone lot guide covers the ticket and timing details.

Rideshare and taxis do not use the Arrivals curb. Uber and Lyft pick up one level down, on the Ground level across the road from Door 7, and taxis work from the Ground Commercial Curbside on the bottom level. If you are sending your traveler to a rideshare, tell them Door 7, ground level; our PIT Uber and Lyft pickup guide walks through it. For every other way out of the airport, including the 28X bus to downtown, see our PIT ground transportation guide.

Rental Cars and Parking for Greeters

Travelers who need a car will find the rental counters in the covered walkway between the Terminal Garage and the terminal, with pickup and return on Level 1 of the garage. It is a short walk from Arrivals, not a shuttle ride. See our PIT rental car guide for the eight companies.

Greeters who would rather park and walk in should use the Terminal Garage or Terminal Lot, both a 3 to 5 minute walk from the terminal. Short stays are tiered: the garage charges $8 for up to 30 minutes and $12 for up to an hour, while the Terminal Lot charges $15 for up to two hours. The full comparison is in our PIT parking guide.

Plan Your Trip with AirportGo

AirportGo is built for the whole airport journey, before, during, and after your flight. AirportGo does not offer an indoor map of Pittsburgh International yet, so at PIT the app is your trip prep companion: keep your flight and pickup details in one place, build a packing checklist, and save exactly where you parked with the parking reminder so pickup ends at your car, not with a search for it. At airports where AirportGo maps already exist, the same app also guides you indoors from the door to your gate.
